WordPress senior developer

We are currently hiring for this position. You will lead complex WordPress implementations at our Novi Sad studio (custom themes, integrations, and hardening) alongside designers and client stakeholders.

About the role

You are the senior WordPress engineer who keeps clients from worrying: migrations, multisite, custom Gutenberg blocks, and third-party APIs that actually stay online.

Most of the work is out of Novi Sad: hybrid at the studio, remote from Serbia when the schedule allows.

Responsibilities

  • Architect and build custom themes and plugins; enforce coding standards and review junior work.
  • Lead technical discovery: hosting, SSO, CRM hooks, editorial workflows.
  • Harden sites: updates, capability boundaries, backups, and incident response basics.
  • Optimize performance (query tuning, object cache, CDN strategy) without a cargo-cult stack.
  • Document runbooks and hand off to the client’s IT team when an engagement closes.

Terms

  • Deep WordPress experience: actions/filters, custom post types, REST, security practices.
  • Strong PHP 8.x, Composer, and modern JS for admin or block editor extensions.
  • Confident with MySQL, WP-CLI, and CI-friendly deploy patterns.
  • Production code samples or detailed case studies you can talk through.
  • Right to work in Serbia; hybrid at the Novi Sad studio or remote from within the country / region.

Nice to have

  • Headless or decoupled WordPress + Next.js edges.
  • Experience with enterprise hosting (VIP, Pantheon, WP Engine).

Compensation and benefits

Gross salary: €2,200–3,200 per month, depending on experience. Employment contract, pension and health insurance, 20–24 days of annual leave, and private health insurance under the local package.

  • Commuting costs to the studio as agreed.
  • Conference and learning budget.

Working conditions and policies

  • On site: Hybrid; exact studio days agreed with the team.
  • Equipment: Company laptop; stipend for a second monitor.
  • Reference check: Typical for enterprise clients.
  • Confidentiality: Client codebases are under NDA.
